Fontaine Scarelli’s 11:11 on Another Planet Debuts at Gaia Art Space Hong Kong Hong Kong, September 2025 – The Hartz Project presents 11:11 on Another Planet, a solo exhibition by American artist Fontaine Scarelli, opening at Gaia Art Space, Hong Kong on 20 September 2025 and running through 1 November 2025.

The show marks Scarelli’s first exhibition in Asia, offering audiences an immersive encounter with his emotionally charged, genre-defying works. The exhibition takes its name from the fleeting moment when the clock strikes 11:11—a symbolic glitch in time that suggests alignment, connection, and transformation.

Scarelli’s paintings capture this elusive sensation, creating visual experiences that straddle the boundary between the familiar and the ineffable. Unbound by conventional form, the works resist traditional sci-fi imagery of rockets or planets, instead charting inner landscapes of memory, intuition, and dream.

Each canvas feels like a transmission from another dimension, shaped by raw instinct and an openness to chaos rather than imposed order.

Dynamic textures and layered movement mirror the contradictions of human experience, where fragility and beauty coexist in a fragile equilibrium.

Scarelli, born in Chicago in 1987, studied fashion design at The Illinois Institute of Art before shifting to painting.

His large-scale canvases merge the expressive power of abstract expressionism with cinematic influences drawn from post-apocalyptic films and cult classics like The Twilight Zone.

His practice often reflects on solitude, mortality, and the fluid nature of perception—offering viewers portals into alternate realities that question the structures of time and existence. In recent years, Scarelli has rapidly gained international recognition.

He debuted at Art Basel Miami Beach in 2024, and in July 2025, Netflix licensed four of his works for a forthcoming film project. His piece Drifting Shards 2 was spotlighted in L’Officiel St. Barth’s “Best of Art Basel” coverage.

His works are now held in collections including Perkins & Will, Amy Kartheiser Studio, and private collectors in the U.S. and Europe. With 11:11 on Another Planet, Scarelli invites Hong Kong audiences into a contemplative, transcendent space—one where spirituality converges with the unknown and where the shared complexity of human existence reveals itself in all its intensity.
