At COMEUP 2025, Korea’s largest global startup festival, SkalePlus emerged as a key voice in conversations around cross-border expansion, entrepreneurship, and the future of startup ecosystems.
Based in south Korea with American roots, SkalePlus positions itself as a global expansion platform designed to help startups navigate unfamiliar markets with clarity and confidence.
Founded after several years as a consulting firm, SkalePlus officially launched its platform last year, building on nearly five years of hands-on experience supporting startups entering Korea, the United States, and the Middle East.
Its mission is straightforward yet ambitious: to remove structural, cultural, and linguistic barriers that prevent startups from scaling internationally.
“Many global founders want to enter Korea, but they don’t know where to start,” a SkalePlus representative explains. “They don’t speak the language, they don’t understand the business culture, and they don’t know who to trust. That’s where we come in.”
Navigating Korea’s Unique Startup Landscape
While Korea’s startup ecosystem has grown rapidly, SkalePlus notes that it remains challenging for foreign founders. Language barriers, relationship-driven business norms, and limited access to Korean-language government programs often slow down international startups.
“In Korea, trust comes before deals,” the representative says. “You don’t secure partnerships after one meeting. You build relationships over time. Many founders from Western ecosystems are surprised by that.”
SkalePlus acts as an intermediary, connecting startups with verified local service providers, investors, accelerators, and government-backed programs.
The platform also supports Korean startups looking outward, particularly toward the U.S., Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, leveraging its multilingual team and international networks.
AI as a Connector, Not a Shortcut
One of SkalePlus’s standout features is its AI-driven matching system, which connects startups with relevant investment programs, accelerators, and market-entry services worldwide.
“AI doesn’t replace strategy,” the team emphasizes. “But it helps reduce friction. Instead of searching blindly, startups gain visibility and access much faster.”
Rather than promoting AI as a buzzword, SkalePlus focuses on practical implementation—saving time, lowering costs, and improving decision-making for founders operating under pressure.

Entrepreneurship, Risk, and Cultural Expectations
Throughout COMEUP 2025, SkalePlus engaged extensively with students and early-stage founders, many of whom expressed hesitation rooted in social expectations.
“In Korea, entrepreneurship is still seen as risky compared to working for a large company,” the representative notes. “But failure isn’t failure—it’s learning. Without taking risks, innovation doesn’t happen.”
SkalePlus aims to empower young founders by providing not only tools but reassurance that they are not alone. Its platform supports founders at every stage—from idea validation to post-investment scaling—and includes resources such as a visa eligibility tool for foreign entrepreneurs considering Korea.
Building a Global Infrastructure from Korea
Rather than expanding too quickly, SkalePlus has taken a deliberate approach. Korea has served as its testing ground—one of the most complex startup environments in Asia. Having validated demand, the company is now forming partnerships in Japan, India, and other Asian markets.
“We wanted to prove that this platform was truly needed,” says a SkalePlus executive. “Now that people are using it, paying for it, and seeing results, we know we’re building something meaningful.”
Future developments include additional platform features and a new version designed to connect freelancers with startups globally, further strengthening the ecosystem around early-stage companies.

A Platform Built on Experience
SkalePlus was born from first-hand experience. Its leadership team saw the limits of traditional consulting—helping one company at a time—and envisioned a scalable solution that could support founders everywhere.
“Startups don’t just need funding,” the team explains. “They need access—to people, to knowledge, to ecosystems. Our goal is to create a trusted, structured, and safe space where those connections can happen.”
At COMEUP 2025, SkalePlus didn’t just showcase a platform—it articulated a philosophy: that global expansion should be accessible, informed, and human-centered.
As borders become less visible but cultural gaps remain, SkalePlus is positioning itself as a bridge—one connection at a time.
