Gladstone Gallery is proud to debut a series of recent paintings by Rachel Rose, which will be on view from March 13 through April 25, 2026.
The exhibition officially begins with an opening reception hosted at the New York 64th Street location on March 13 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
This new body of work draws significant inspiration from the metaphorical nature found in historical devotional paintings of the Holy Family’s flight to Egypt.
Rose utilizes these historical references to deepen her ongoing exploration of themes related to maternal protection and the hardships of displacement.
The artist focuses her compositions on central allegorical symbols such as still water, the ibis, stone, the edge of the forest, and the moon.
By examining how images serve as a scaffold for our beliefs, these works highlight the intrinsic link between physical land, history, and fantasy.
Born in 1986, Rachel Rose is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist who works across the mediums of film, painting, sculpture, and drawing.
Her creative practice investigates how landscapes shape human storytelling and how the sublime can be discovered within everyday experiences.

Rose has presented her work in numerous solo exhibitions worldwide and is represented in several of the most prestigious public art collections.
Her paintings and films are held by major institutions including the Whitney Museum, Tate Modern, LACMA, and the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris.
Her professional accolades include receiving the Frieze Artist Award in 2015 and the Illy Present Future Prize in 2014.
She has also participated in world-renowned art events such as the Venice Biennale, the Carnegie International, and the São Paulo Biennial.
While living and working in New York, the artist maintains a global presence through gallery representation in New York, Brussels, Seoul, and London.
She is currently represented by Gladstone Gallery across its international locations and by Pilar Corrias Gallery in the United Kingdom.
