On June 5, the Insa Art Center (41-1 Insadong-gil) opened an exhibition by the artist Beatha (born Kim Hyun-sook).

Beatha worked as a visual merchandiser (VMD) at a fashion company for about seven years.

She has participated in many fairs, including the Singapore Bank Art Fair (Singapore Hotel), the Bank Art Fair (Setec), the ART X SEOUL (Intercontinental Seoul COEX), and the BAMA Busan Art Fair (BEXCO). Ms. Beata's paintings clearly and concisely convey their intended message.

she said, "For the painting Que sera sera (What will be, will be, will be), with the fruits behind the woman's head, I wanted to convey to the viewer the idea of Gaia, the Earth goddess, as a protector and bringer of happiness."

"I painted each fruit in the background as a symbol of happiness, and I wanted the viewer to experience that happiness as well. I wanted to convey this happiness to the viewer." she says.

"When modern people don't take care of themselves and live in a fierce battle with the world, they sometimes lose themselves. I lost myself, so I started making art to find myself," she explains.

"The universal search refers to the colors I used that people like. I experienced burnout from running with a racehorse for three months and had been depressed for over ten years. So when I started painting, I started with color. I often used oranges and yellows because they are comforting and warm colors.  There are complementary colors, but I also researched matching colors." My previous job was at a fashion company as a VMD, so I had to explore which colors people like. My previous job was at VMD, a fashion company, where I explored what colors people liked.

"My past difficulties with relationships have led me to explore and paint people," says Beatha. "These paintings are conceptual. "The reason the characters have wide eyebrows is that I wanted to draw people who can see a variety of things, not just my narrow view of the world. The wide eyebrows also make them feel like fairy tale characters," she emphasizes.

Beatha describes her paintings as being on the borderline between painterly and illustrative.

She tries to reflect this blurred feeling in her work.

Through colors, images, and patterns, Beatha endeavors to express a language of emotions that can be universally understood.

This connects viewers to their inner feelings and leads them into a world where the dimensions and boundaries between reality and imagination disappear.

Meanwhile Beatha's exhibition was on display on the 4th floor of the Insa Art Center (41-1 Insadong-gil) until 6 p.m. on the 9th.
